How to get to Ischia: advice and directions

Luisa B.

How to get to Ischia?

Ischia can be reached from the port of Naples or from the port of Pozzuoli by ferry, which carries both passengers and vehicles, or by hydrofoil, which hosts passengers only. From Naples it is possible to travel by ferry starting from Porta Calata di Massa and the crossing takes approximately 90 minutes; if instead you choose the hydrofoil, you leave from Molo Beverello and it takes about 50 minutes to reach the island. Pozzuoli is closer, in fact the ferry takes about 60 minutes to Ischia, while the hydrofoil is not available from this port.

Arriving at Capodichino Airport or Central Station, it is possible to reach the port of Naples with Alibus, a bus that makes three stops: Airport - Station - Port, round trip. The bus leaves approximately every 15 minutes. The ticket costs € 5 per person and can be purchased online, at tobacconists or directly on board (children up to 6 years free).

For Porta Calata di Massa (ferry boarding) you leave from Garibaldi (station stop) and get off at the Università stop: a few minutes on foot and you will reach the port. If you are traveling by hydrofoil you have to get off at the next stop, Municipio, and in 5 minutes on foot you will reach the Beverello pier.
