The Cilento is one of the most beautiful areas of Campania, included entirely in the province of Salerno, boasts many places of great tourist interest and much of its territory is part of the National Park of Cilento and Vallo di Diano, with the archaeological sites of Paestum and Velia and the Certosa di Padula, aimed at protecting the rich natural heritage, including, in particular, the Primula palinuri petagna, symbol of the same park. The Cilento is part, together with the Vallo di Diano, of western Lucania and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
