Under the shadow of the Sila, the Ionian coast of Calabria that overlooks the Taranto Gulf, there are many localities that are perfect for a relaxing holiday by the sea. Among them there is Marina di Mandatoriccio on the coast, between Capo Trionto and Punta Alice, a continuous stretch of sands and pebbles surrounded by light-blue and emerald-green water, occasionally interrupted by the torrents that come down from the  mountains. Marina di Mandatoriccio is easily reachable following the A3 highway Salerno-Reggio Calabria. The exit is Spezzano Albanese Sibari, then follow the state highway 534 to the east, toward the Ionian sea and then follow the signs for the ionian state highway SS 106, south towards Crotone. Marina di Mandatoriccio is reachable in half an hour by car, about 10 km after the Trionfo river. Marina di Mandatoriccio is also reachable by train, getting off at the Pietrapaola or at the Mandatoriccio stations, the two towns on the mountains that have their railway stations by the sea.

The climate of Marina di Mandatoriccio is perfect for summer holidays, from half may to half october, when the rain is rare, the day is longer and usually sunny, and the temperatures are perfect for long relaxing days on the beach.

The sea water reaches its highest temperatures from the end of july to the start of september, but also in october the temperatures are around 20°C. A piece of advise for the tourist: generally, the summer climate is better in the morning, when the sun kisses the seafront, while in the afternoon the mountains of the Sila can become cloudy and becloud the second half of the afternoon.

The town is well organized, with the villages of Mandatoriccio and Pietrapaola on the mountains of the Sila and the efficient beach services. It is a mainly summer-season locality full of tourists all day long.

Among the touristic attractions of the area, there is the Odissea 2000 waterpark of Rossano Calabro, where the fun for teenagers and adults is guaranteed by the big pools with slides, toboggan and water games.

Marina di Mandatoriccio is also in proximity of the mountains of the Sila, and the tourists can take pleasant walks in the woods. A classic destination is Longobucco, between the Sila Greca and the Sila Grande, where it is possible to visit the National Park of Calabria, or to reach the area of San Giovanni in Fiore, Arvo Lake. Other characteristic excursions are the paths that lead to south, toward Capo Colonna, to visit the aercheological site of the Hera Lacinia Sanctuary, or to north, in the Sibari plain, where there is the aercheological site of Sybari-Copia by the Crati river's mouth.
