Restaurant
There are two dining rooms at the Grand Hotel Riviera: the Cloe Restaurant, with a wide terrace overlooking the sea and the Nereide dining room, with a courtyard where it is possible to eat outdoors. Breakfast and dinner are served in the Nereide, while the guests can reserve themed dinners (romantic, friendly, family) with waiter service in the Cloe Restaurant, where the chefs will cook gourmet dishes served with excellent wines. The guests of the hotel will have discounts on the menu in the Cloe Restaurant (25%, water and homemade wine are included). There is a typical apulian dinner once a week, while there is an area dedicated to different gastronomic themes every evening. Breakfast is served from 31/03 to 31/10, 7:30-10.30, with a great variety of desserts and savoury foods; water, wine and juices are included; during the other periods 7:30-9:00. Lunch is served 12:30-14:30 with a buffet service, water and homemade wine are included. Dinner is served 19:30-21:30 with a buffet service and the most exclusive dishes of the apulian, italian and international tradition; water and homemade wine are included. High chairs for children are available in the dining room and the staff will serve (on request) unsalted vegetable stock, vegetable puree, rice cream, unsalted tomato puree, whole and semi-skimmed milk, cheese, grated cheese, yogurt and two types of pastina. From 01/01 to 26/05 and from 23/09 to 30/12, the buffet service at lunch and dinner might be replaced by a waiter service and a menu with three courses, at the hotel managment's discretion. The restaurants also have products for guests with celiac disease: bread, pasta, biscuits. The Bar Riviera is in the lobby with sea view, perfect to sip a drink pampered by the background music in a refined location. The Garden Bar is situated between the two pools and the pinewood; here the guests can live unforgettable moments surrounded by the trick of the light of the evening sky.

Locality
Santa Maria al Bagno is a nice hamlet in the municipality of Nardò, in the heart of the beautiful bay that expands from Gallipoli all the way to Punta Santa Caterina, adjacent tourist locality from which it is separated by the promontory of Punta dell'Aspide. The village was born as a harbour where the ships found shelter during the storms and later became a commercial harbour used by the inhabitants of Nardò. Santa Maria al Bagno is a tourist destination for the inhabitants of the nearby municipalities and for those who look for crystal-clear water and jagged coasts: in fact, there are inlets and cliffs, gentle slopes and sharp heads, forests and pinewoods. The coast is full of bays and is near the sea level, which makes reaching the beaches easy.

Places to know and visit
The seafront is exotic. It is a very long street surrounded by palm trees, from where it is possible to appreciate both the sea and the towers, symbol of the town. It is also near the center, easily reachable by foot.

Santa Maria al Bagno was a famous outpost during the period of the barbarian invasions because of its extremely strategic location. This is the reason why the village is full of coastal sighting towers. One of the most important towers is undoubtedly Torre del Fiume Galatena, wanted by Carlo V during the sixteenth century; it had to protect the coast of Salento and an important freshwater spring from the saracenic invaders coming from the sea. It is a square-plan tower with a pyramidal section, slightly different from the typical towers we are used to. Its bastions are 16 meters tall and have a pentagonal plan. After centuries of erosion and earthquakes, the tower was destroyed and all that is left are its bastions. That is why it is no longer known as Torre Galatena but as Quattro Colonne (four pillars).

For those who love a necropolis, there is one in Contrada Mondo Novo. Following the path that leads to the city center, it is possible to appreciate the beauty of the majestic villas and noble castles. A trip to the Grotta del Fico cannot be missed.

The Museo della Memoria e dell'Accoglienza, located on the Alfonso la Marmora seafront, was designed by Luca Zevi and was the first italian museum to collect jewish graffiti. Santa Maria al Bagno is especially known for being the city that gave shelter to many jewish refugees during the nazi mass extermination. The town received a badge of honor from Carlo Azeglio Ciampi. In the museum, there is also a great variety of paper, photographic and video material.
