Day 2 Cappadocia
Breakfast. A day dedicated to exploring the unique region of Cappadocia, which combines natural formations with places of great cultural interest. We will begin our tour with a walk through the fascinating Dervent Valley, known as the "Valley of Fairy Chimneys," where wind and water have eroded volcanic terrain to create a spectacular landscape of peaks, cones, and obelisks. Then, we will visit the underground city of Özkonak or a similar one, built by Christian communities to protect themselves from Persian and Arab attacks. Stop at a carpet and kilim workshop.
The tour continues with a visit to the Göreme Open-Air Museum, which preserves an impressive collection of rock-carved churches, chapels, and monasteries adorned with 11th-century frescoes, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the spectacular volcanic sites of Avcilar (the Hunters’ Valley) and Güvercinlik (the Pigeon Valley), where you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the Uçhisar Castle, situated on a volcanic rock promontory pierced with tunnels and windows. Next, we will stop at a handicraft workshop specializing in decorations and jewelry. Return to the hotel and dinner.
In the evening, after dinner, you may choose to participate in a Turkish night with a folkloric show and traditional dances (optional, at an additional cost). Overnight stay at the hotel.
You also have the opportunity to join a hot air balloon ride to admire the breathtaking, moonlike landscape of Cappadocia from above, illuminated by the first light of dawn (optional, at an additional cost, and subject to reconfirmation based on seat availability.
